About Clarity Healthcare

The Clarity Health Journal is developed by Clarity Health Inc., a Canadian software company founded 1991 to provide software development, project management, implementation, and consulting services to the healthcare industry always on time and always on budget.

Saverio Rinaldi   CEO, Clarity Health

Saverio Rinaldi

Saverio Rinaldi is a Certified Management Consultant who has over twenty years of experience advising clients on technology’s impact on organizational effectiveness. He has proven ability in the design, development and implementation of complex systems.

He has directed the selection and implementation of software solutions for large multi-nationals like AT&T Global and Chase Manhattan, and entrepreneurial e-commerce businesses such as PayTrust Canada.

His clients have covered the globe, in Canada, the United States, Great Britain, Kenya and New Zealand. All of his projects have involved analyzing business process analysis, organizational effectiveness assessment and information technology development and implementation.

Saverio’s formal education was at the University of Waterloo where he trained in computer science and management science. He graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor’s degree in Independent Studies. A member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultant, he became a CMC in 1996. He is currently working to complete a Masters of Science (MSc.) in Software Engineering from the University of Liverpool. The MSc. Dissertation is pending.

Saverio is one of the founding partners of Clarity Health and believes that bringing experts together specific to a particular project gives the client the depth and breadth of knowledge required for the client’s successful project.

Nan Brooks   VP Strategy, Clarity Health

Nan Brooks

Nan Brooks is a lawyer and healthcare executive who specializes in strategy development and execution, lobbying, relationship management, balanced-scorecard techniques and tools, healthcare funding models and decision support.

She currently is the Vice President Strategy at Clarity Health and built her career on working with disparate stakeholder groups to attain consensus on strategy. The complexity of these interactions was highlighted in her time at the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care when she was the lead on the negotiations for the merger of hospitals, as well as their respective unions, in Windsor. She continued this work while gaining consensus on policy directions at the Ontario Hospital Association, and on funding-formula development at the Joint Policy and Planning Committee.

While at the Council for Academic Hospitals of Ontario she worked with hospital-based senior management teams to develop provincial strategies primarily on nursing, research and financial issues. At University Health Network over a five-year period, Nan directed government relations and focused the strategy of the hospital.

Her academic preparation includes a Law Degree from Dalhousie University, a Master’s Degree from Dalhousie University, Call to the Ontario Bar, Certified Health Executive, and Certification with Kaplan and Norton’s Office of Strategy Management.

Bo Green   Software Developer

Bo Green

Bo Green is an senior software developer who has been working in the healthcare sector for over twenty years. He has worked with government, academia and in the private sector. He has experience both in the development of large-scale scientific databases, and in developing the applications which use them.

Bo is considered an expert in probabilistic record linkage, having led the technical development of the BC Linked Health Database. He has worked with epidemiologists and statisticians to implement complex modelling strategies, and has a degree in applied math and computer science from Waterloo University.

Bo has also contributed to several academic publications during his career. His current focus is building web applications to support healthcare management activities.

Sean Clarke   Software Engineer

Sean Clarke is a software engineer with over 20 years of experience in analyzing, designing and implementing software solutions. He has engineered web-based applications, image-capture and workflow applications, database applications as well as conventional stand-alone solutions.

Sean is also an Associate Professor at Conestoga College in Kitchener in the School of Computer, Electronic and Software Engineering. He has taught at the College for over 5 years and his students consistently rank him at or near the top of all of their Professors.

Sean is a graduate of the Computer Engineering program at the University of Waterloo. His work experience has introduced him to a wide variety of markets at the global level. He has worked for NCR Corporation, AT&T Corporation, Mitra Medical Imaging Systems, Focus Automation Machine Vision Systems, Innovasys Financial Systems and Symcor Systems. Sean holds an International Patent on Neural-Network based Machine Print character recognition and in 1992 he was invited to Washington D.C. to participate in a symposium on the "State of Handwriting Recognition" for use in the Year 2000 United States census.

As an associate with Clarity Health, he provides development and design expertise along with exceptional customer service. He has worked on projects in Canada, the United States, England, Kenya, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia.

Steve Salve   Software Developer

Steve Salve

Steve has over 20 years of software development experience on various platforms and systems. He received the Addison-Wesley award as top student in the Computer Science program at Sheridan College and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Lakehead University. He also has experience in coding secure banking products from teller software to ATM POS handling as well as developing on various mobile platforms. Steve has:

  • Developed applications for social networks such as Facebook, Bebo, and Friendster
  • Managed over three million users on applications including geo targeting of ad inventory
  • Developed numerous applications in C++, PHP using database systems such as MySQL, MS Access, SQL Server on platforms such as Windows, Linux, FreeBSD
  • Managed multiple dual-server systems running Linux and FreeBSD using and configuring applications such as apache webserver, ncFTP, qPopper, sendmail, etc.
  • Developed Java-based Blackberry mobile applications for healthcare providers.

Michael Caron   Business Development

Michael Caron

Michael is an aggressive, forward-thinking, entrepreneurial leader. He founded BarterPlus Systems Inc., one of the first business-to-business barter exchanges in Canada, and grew it across the country to become one of the largest in the world, trading over $40 million of goods and services annually. He has over 15 years’ of progressive sales, operational management, and finance experience in franchised and systems-based organizations. Michael provides realistic and effective bottom-line direction and training in areas such as sales, recruiting, leadership, priority management, customer service, and financial management. He is a positive, goal-oriented team visionary who operates with confidence and a high level of integrity. Michael has a proven ability to communicate, manage, and negotiate effectively at all levels.

Ted Leckie   Chief Design Officer

Ted Leckie (left) founded Sienna Software with Tom Andersen in 1991, growing the business to over $1 million in revenues over the following three years. In April 2000, Ted orchestrated the sale of Sienna Software to (founded and managed at that time by Lou Dobbs of CNN) and continued on as a director and president of Canada until April 2004. He is an award-winning computer-interface designer.

Tom Andersen   Technology Officer

Tom Andersen received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Guelph in 1992. Since founding Sienna Software with Ted Leckie in 1991, he was responsible for managing a complex software project of over 500,000 lines of code. Tom’s responsibilities have included new business development and management of Canada’s research and development department.

Eric Andersen   Software Developer

Eric is a software developer with over 15 years of medical software and device development and holds a Honours Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from The University of Western Ontario. He has developed numerous medical and industrial products, from concept to completion including:

  • Interface and control for a portable patient ventilator and monitor
  • Ophthalmic ultrasonic measurement device
  • Ophthalmic pressure measurement device.
  • Infrared remote control for surgical device
  • Patient database for recommending and tracking surgical procedures
  • Medical infusion pump
  • Pace maker test system
  • Optical disc design for laser eye surgery
  • Multiprocessor distributed fire alarm system.
